Quakes 2011 Spring Wins

The Conejo Quakes HS Black and 8th Black combined to play in the Conejo Quakes 3rd Annual Memorial Spectacular at Moorpark High School.  Due to several missing players from both teams, the two teams combined for the first time all season and it was impressive, winning the High School Gold Division.  On Saturday, the team took down Threat Basketball 45-32 followed up by a win over Balboa Hills Red, 47-40.  On Sunday, the team played Bakersfield Spartans in the championship after they also won both games Saturday.  After a slow start, the girls played great, winning 49-31.

Pictured above is Coach Neil Foreman, Kate Foultz, Lindsey Neuner, Sarah Dempsey, Sarah Eicher, Kayla Overbeck, Danni Ryan, Missy Frakes, Sydney Boyer, and Carolyn Ruffino.  Issy Newman played, but was missing from the photo.  Players on the two teams but unable to attend were Milana Kazmer, Lindsey Tse, Roxy Barahman, Taylor Halby, Isabella Anglin, Jessi Sager, Cristina Saccardi, and Vanessa DeSimone.

On May 14th and 15th, Conejo Quakes High School Black and 8th Grade Black played in the West Coast Premier Invitational 15U Division and put on quite the performance.  The High School Black Team ended up going 4-1 with games over West Coast All-Stars 55-23, GSB (Arizona) 45-42, West Coast Premier Gold 49-27, and Salesian Force 46-27.  The team ended up taking home the Silver Bracket 1st Place.  The 8th Black Team, also 4-1, ended up taking its first four games before losing in the Gold Championship.  They had wins over Tustin Lady Panthers 36-14, Cal Swish San Diego 15U's 32-30, West Coast Premier Gold 34-33, and GSB (Arizona) 57-51.  After falling in the final game, they ended up taking home the Gold Bracket 2nd Place.  The division consisted of 16 teams and both Conejo Quakes teams finished in the Top 5.

On May 15th, the Conejo Quakes played in Swoosh Santa Barbara May Fest and won its division convincingly.  The Quakes started off by playing Cal Swoosh and taking them down 32-17.  Despite being the 2nd game of the day and having a player leave, the 5th Grade team played Camarillo Thunder and took them down 28-4.  This marks the first division championship of the season for the 5th Grade Team as they continue to improve.

The Conejo Quakes HS Black Team went 2-0 in the Conejo Quakes Spring Classic at Moorpark HS on March 26th/27th.  The team beat Lights Out in their first game and went on to defeat 805 Basketball in the second game.  Since their final game would have been against Conejo Quakes 8th Black, they just played the two games and were crowned Co-Champions.  On the team playing that weekend was Lindsay Neuner, Vanessa DeSimone, Jessi Sager, Carolyn Ruffino, Jessica Boyajian, Cristina Saccardi, Sarah Eicher, and Sarah Dempsey.
